Here’s the final turntable for my Space Marine project. After many hours of work, and many more of procrastinating, it’s done. Make sure you watch it in HD

Here’s a wallpaper of my Space Marine model, for those who are inclined to like that sort of thing. Click the image for full resolution.

One minor detail on the sword, and then the space marine is finally done.

So, I’m still going to finish my Space Marine model, but I just got involved with a team making a 3D short film in the Halo universe. In fact it’s part 3 of a pretty popular fan-series. I know absolutely nothing about Halo, but the project seems like it’s going to be awesome. I’m doing character modeling and maybe some lip synching/facial animation. I think I even get to voice a character if I want haha

Super excited!

Next update on my 3D space marine project. I did the lighting. The sword (which will be glowing blue), the eyes, and the vents on the backpack now emit light onto the rest of the armor. Last thing to do now is texture the sword and this thing will be ready.

Thought my Space Marine model needed a sword. Textures forthcoming.

It’s really hard to get a readable silhouette with a space marine. They are WAY too bulky. You’ll probably also notice that the armor is binding and penetrating. The most obvious place is where the shin armor pokes through the top of the foot. These guys are totally impractical. They wouldn’t be able to move in real life. For that reason, this project has turned out much more difficult than I anticipated. It really limits the types of poses that I can do.

I’m back on this project. It’s virtually done. A few texture seams to paint over, but the big thing now is rendering and lighting.

So I finished my Space Marine model a few weeks ago including the rig. I went to go animate it today and…..no weapons. I forgot to make weapons. -__-

So here’s my mostly finished bolter and barely started sword to go with the character. I’ve already started my next character and I’ll start posting that stuff soon.

Inspiration for my character modeling project
